I started Last Lullaby yesterday around noon & finished it last night. There was no way I could put it down! I have been a fan of Ms. Wyer's work since she started writing. First there were wonderfully funny comedies & now a second series of mystery/thrillers. She is not only a prolific author but a very talented one!

In Last Lullaby, her latest book, a young mother, Charlotte Bannon, is bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat, but her infant son is left unharmed. The word "Who" is written on the wall with her blood. It seems that her ex-boxer husband Adam has done it. But then another young mother is killed while her young son hides in a kitchen cupboard. The word "What" is on the wall. Is Adam guilty? Is it his friend & ex-cellmate Lee? She kept me guessing who the murderer was until the last chapter or two.

Ms Wyer brings back Detective Ward in another thriller that keeps the read turning pages until the outstanding climax. Her main cast of characters return making the reader comfortable and interested to learn about their lives as part of the police but also as individuals experiencing their often complicated home lives. Last Lullaby is a terrific read and I can't wait for the next read in the series.
I found it take a lot of time to catch a murderer. Check each person background, traffic camera's, visiting each household and trying to get to know the person who was murdered. So much to do then you go home to your life and it's own set of problems.
I look forward to every book Carol Wyer writes and really enjoyed book number two in her new series with Natalie and her team. The case they are investigating in "Last Lullaby" seems to be quite straightforward at first glance, but turns out to have so many layers that your head will spin. The plot twists are brilliant. The suspense is great and evenly paced. I am a huge fan of her writing and Carol Wyer is my top to go to author for good intelligent well-written mysteries.
This was a okay book. Not great...just so so. I found the police work somewhat lacking. Not the best and I wanted to stop a few times but kept going back. Not her best.
I am earning up to the new DO Natalie Ward and her team. This story has me in my toes from the first killing to the last scenes trying to catch the killer. I recommend Ms Wyer's stories and both DI's that work so hard to find out who the killer is and stop them from killing again. Enjoy the fast paced story to see who did this...who, why, what and where....
Too much profanity. Wish had a rating system similar to the movies.... Would
never have purchased books by this author.
Carol Wyer's ability to take you into a murder scene is chilling! As the first encounter with the killer occurs, Detective Natalie Ward is facing some problems at home which must take lower precedence to solving this crime the mother of a six month old baby boy was repeatedly,
death with a baseball bat while her little one was left in his crib. The police first turned to her spouse, but look further when his alibi checks out. Another murder occurs, again the young child is isolated by the killer while his mother is repeatedly stabbed. Finally he sets his sights on the prize he is seeking, and it is up to Natalie and her staff of crime fighters to trap and defeat the fiend! It is a great take . (But, to quote Henry Higgins, "Why can't the English learn to speak?" I keep coming across grammatical errors that I find so irritating using singular noun with plural pronoun, and not employing WHOM where is should be employed. I grow weary of these omnipresent errors!)
